Funded Introduction 2 Engineering Workshops in Bridgend

EESW (Engineering Education Scheme Wales) delivered an exciting day of STEM activities to over 90 Year 9 students at Brynteg Comprehensive School as part of their STEM Careers Day.

Thanks to funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF), provided through Bridgend County Borough Council, EESW is aiming to engage secondary school students across Bridgend from January to March 2025 to inspire the next generation of STEM professionals.

The students participated in two dynamic workshops.  In the Prosthetics in Motion session, they learned about the critical role prosthetics play in transforming peoples’ lives. The students then had the opportunity to build prosthetic arms from LEGO and use coding to operate them, combining creativity with technical skills.

In the Speed Challenge, pupils explored the principles of aerodynamics by designing and constructing model racing cars from card. The highlight of the session was watching the cars race down a track, sparking excitement and competition.

These interactive workshops aim to demonstrate the real-world applications of STEM and highlight potential career pathways. We are proud to be collaborating with Bridgend County Borough Council to bring meaningful, hands-on learning experiences to local schools.  By inspiring young minds, this initiative is fostering a stronger future for STEM industries in the region and schools can get in touch with EESW to book a session.
