Shared Prosperity Funding Drives Coding Initiative at Ysgol Henry Richard
On 12th and 13th March we delivered coding workshops across 2 days at Ysgol Henry Richard in Tregaron.
Over 60 pupils in Year 7 took part in the activity where they learnt about the history of coding and how integral it is in our everyday lives. They then went on to write their own code with the intention to move a BBC micro:bit robot through a series of tasks, fully supported by our activity deliverers.
By the end of the session pupils had successfully programmed a transmitter and receiver to introduce remote control and were able to test their code through a ‘robot wars’ game against other students.
Two weeks after the session, their teacher Nicola Evans, said “The students have not stopped talking about it [the coding workshop]”.
This workshop was delivered as part of the Introduction 2 Engineering & Manufacturing Workshops which are fully-funded for secondary schools in Ceredigion, Conwy and Wrexham, with funding from the UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund, driven by Levelling Up.
