F1 in Schools South Wales Regional Competition Winners 2023-24
Hosted at St Fagans National Museum on Thursday 8th and Friday 9th February 2024, EESW held the South Wales F1 in Schools Primary and Secondary Regional Finals.
35 teams from schools across South Wales came together to compete at this annual competition, with the opportunity to take away a variety of awards, including category champions, and the ultimate goal to represent Wales at the UK National Finals, where a place on the F1 in Schools World Finals Stage is within reach.
Teams arrived swiftly from 8.30am, setting up their pit areas and displays, and rehearsing their presentations, before a morning brief and then their competition was quickly underway. The racetracks were busy throughout the day, with plenty to watch, including up to 4 cars running at the same time.
Judges were kept well occupied with teams focused on presenting their work to their best abilities, including showcasing design & engineering portfolios, marketing & brand identity, and verbal presentations.
Teams were kept guessing while each of their cars we accurately scrutineered against strict regulations, set directly by F1 in Schools for teams to follow and abide by. Both Fastest Car & Best Engineered Car awards relied on teams’ cars passing their scrutineering, keeping teams in suspense throughout the day.
The day was complete with the awards ceremony. Teams waited eagerly, hoping their name would be called out against each of the awards.
