EESW invites The College Merthyr to the Science and the Senedd 2024

EESW STEMCymru were pleased to once again have the opportunity to attend the Science and the Senedd event on Tuesday 21st May 2024.

The 2024 event marked the twentieth anniversary of the Science and the Senedd, an event which brings together the scientists, engineers and policymakers working to build a future for everyone. The event was organised by The Royal Society of Chemistry and sponsored by David Rees MS, deputy presiding officer of the Senedd.

The theme for 2024 was The Green Economy and during the event, there were panel discussions and presentations from several speakers, all discussing the drive towards a Carbon neutral Wales. EESW was just one of a range of exhibitors, all contributing towards the overall theme for the delegates in attendance.

We were pleased to once again be invited to exhibit our programme of activities offered under our portfolio, part-funded by the Welsh Government Education Directorate. The event produced excellent networking opportunities, as we set up our stand alongside other exhibitors including the WJEC, Institute of Physics, Technocamps, Education Workforce Council and Space Wales.

We were delighted to be joined by pupils from The College Merthyr Tydfil who had recently participated in the EESW Project 2023-24. The pupils showed great enthusiasm when showcasing their work to ministers, speakers and delegates. The team were tasked with future proofing a pre-1919 house to be added to the Rhyd-y-Car terrace, ensuring to maintain the heritage of the building and to preserve existing features.

Well done to the pupils for completing their project to such a high standard.

EESW would like to thank the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Senedd for hosting this event, and we look forward to participating once again next year.
