Tomorrow's Engineers Energy Quest
2017-2020 – Tomorrows Engineers Energy Quest Programme - Engineering UK
The Energy Quest project was funded by Shell UK through Tomorrow's Engineers and delivered throughout the UK. It was a curriculum-linked programme for schools which encouraged young people to find out all about sustainable energy and learn about associated engineering careers.
EESW delivered the Tomorrows Engineers Energy Quest Programme on behalf of Engineering UK from 2017 to 2020 to 36 schools per year in Wales, which included a mix of repeat schools in the second and third years as well as new schools introduced to the programme.
EESW STEM Cymru were awarded the Welsh contract and during the initial three-year contract we delivered an in-house presentation and activity based on energy needs and carbon capture to 50% of all Welsh secondary schools. Schools were targeted depending on their free school meal percentages and Science and Maths GCSE attainment levels and aimed to engage with a 50/50 gender split.
EESW delivered a solar powered car race investigation using capacitors to vary the distance of the car travelled. Engineering UK who oversaw and monitored all contracts flagged EESW STEM Cymru as outstanding deliverers.
